Ever since I was a kid, my two biggest passions in life have always been video games and music. Coincidentally, I’ve never been satisfied with just consuming either of my hobbies; rather, I want to create something that will make people feel that same magic that you get from a good piece of creative work. I’ve always pursued my passion for music alongside programming, and while they might seem diametrically opposed—one logical and one creative—I find myself finding them very similar. Composing and structuring a song is, in my cross-wired brain, the same as structuring a good piece of code. The verse comes before the chorus, and the bridge connects the two, and these two blocks of code come together, and suddenly my character is moving. However, what’s most important is the feeling you get when you’ve completed a project and someone gets to experience it; that feeling is unbeatable. Nothing feels better than seeing people enjoying a game you’ve made or a song you’ve created. And in that sense, I’ve always created with a sense of pride and purpose to make sure that every project is the best that it can be.
Personality-wise, I’m an extrovert with a craving for community and creating in groups. I like to be able to freely communicate with the people I work with, so I’m looking for a workplace with access to an office!
Other than video games and music, I love learning about languages. But as many before me have, I’ve started learning about as many languages as I’ve created new projects, and finished about as many. However, one has stuck with me, and that has been Korean. I found Korean in high school when K-pop started becoming popular, and as I dove deeper and picked up the language, I found it very compelling. Ever since, I’ve been very interested in everything from the food to the history and, of course, the music. With this, I’ve always dreamt about working abroad, and working in Korea or in collaboration with Korean companies has always been a dream.
